Diploma of Medical Imaging (DMI)


The DMI programme is created with the objective of providing well-rounded education in medical imaging. The programme covers both Radiography and Sonography in their 3 years of study. Graduates from the programme can gain entry into renowned hospitals as a Radiographer cum Sonographer. They can even opt to continue their studies overseas in the medical imaging field, specializing in either Radiography or Sonography. Graduates can continue their studies too in Vision College with the one year Postgraduate Diploma in Medical UltraSonography (Asia) programme.

Medical Imaging is a branch of health care delivery that utilizes x-rays and other energy forms to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of medical conditions. The three (3) year Diploma program is ideal for those interested in both personal interaction and a "high-tech" career in health science. Student reading in the Medical Imaging program will build on a working knowledge of biology, computer science, human anatomy and physiology, while mastering essential radiologic imaging techniques, safety precautions, patient positioning procedures, and patient care skills.

Through a mixture of classroom environment at the university and clinical education at a variety of clinical education settings, students acquire the knowledge and skills to achieve professional competence needed to operate medical imaging apparatus which may include general radiography, fluoroscopy, mammography, CT, MRI and ultrasound.Throughout the three (3) year diploma program students will be equip with critical thinking, communication, and problem solving skills and gain a diverse insight into the medical imaging field from the experiences gained from the learning process and those shared by your classmates. Student will award Diploma in Medical Imaging upon the successfully completing the program.

Career Prospect

Upon completion of the program successfully, you will award the Diploma in Medical Imaging and have acquired the skills necessary to work as a radiologic technologist and begin your career in the dynamic, cutting-edge field of medical imaging.
Medical Imaging technologists are in demand, not only in hospitals, but in imaging centers, clinics, private medical offices, medical and dental laboratories, and even mobile x-ray providers. They provide quality patient care while creating diagnostic images independently, assisting radiologists and other physicians in imaging the body, and operating specialized radiographic equipment.
